The Old Lonesome is based on my experiences growing up in the small town of Plentywood in northeastern Montana during the 1950s. My two older sisters and I roamed free-range in those days, finding adventures around the town and at our grandfather’s homestead farm, which he called “Old Lonesome”. Writing this book allowed me to revisit those precious memories–not all idyllic–and to record a special kind of childhood that is no longer possible today. The book was published by Farcountry Press in 2006, and is available on Amazon and through Blackfish Gallery.
The follow images include pages from The Old Lonesome interspersed with photos of my 2007 Blackfish backroom show, “Old Lonesome Souvenirs”, which featured installations that tied in to individual chapters in the book.
